Lifeguard Training and Waterfront skills
Ages 15 and above

This course makes learning fun and easy. Through classroom instruction and hands-on practice, you’ll learn waterfront, surveillance and recognition skills as well as rescue skills in the water and on land, first aid and CPR.

Prerequisites: Swim 550 yards; submerge to a minimum depth of 7 feet; retrieve a 10-pound object and return to the surface; and swim 20 yards. Othe ARC pre-requisites may apply.

American Red Cross
Water Safety Instructor course
Ages 16 and above

If you are a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross water safety instructor. This course teaches you skills that may save a life and prepares you to teach swimming and aquatic awareness.

Prerequisites: Successfully complete instructor course written pretest with a minimum score of 80 percent or better. Successfully complete instructor course skills pretest consisting of water safety and swimming skills.
