Basketball

Live City Basketball comes to Greenwich!

The Live City Basketball League (“the League”) was founded Coaches JP Ballesteros and Mark Jerome of Riverside Hawks in New York City. The League is a competitive environment for young people who have a passion for basketball and sportsmanship. The vision is to continue to grow the League so that the competition will be at the highest level and that they provide an environment of quality basketball, sportsmanship, and professionalism.

Coach JP Ballesteros is among the most respected professionals in the youth basketball business. A former high school and college coach, he has developed several high-level Division 1, 2 and 3 players. After 10 years of coaching and conducting clinics at the iconic Riverside Church Basketball Program, JP partnered with Mark Jerome to start their own company, Global Professional Sports, which offers teams, camps, one-on-one training, small group training and competitive leagues and events in the New York City area.

Coach Mark Jerome is considered one of the top youth basketball coaches in the country. As a high-level high school player, Jerome was recruited by several Division 1 schools, opting for Lafayette College on a basketball scholarship.  Jerome was described as a leader on the court with an ability to see plays develop before they happened. After college, he was recruited to play basketball professionally overseas. Upon his return, Jerome became a reporter in West Virginia and Wisconsin and coached in his spare time. Eventually, he returned to the game, coaching youth basketball and becoming Executive Director of Riverside Church Basketball Program.  Mark has coached several high-level Division 1 players, including former Greenwich Country Day School student and NBA player, Donovan Mitchell, Eric Paschall (Villanova) and his son Ty (University of Virginia).

Sessions implement and improve on fundamental skills for boys and girls while also providing time for supervised games to help develop basketball instincts. Drills focus on ball handling, shooting, scoring moves, defense, and are followed by either standard pick-up style or situational games to ensure that learned skills are put to use and that game flow is better understood. Games are played fairly, all players are included.
