René LaPointe Jameson

René​ ​LaPointe​ ​Jameson​ ​is​ ​a​ ​senior​ ​at​ ​Greenwich​ ​High​ ​School.​ ​Passionate​ ​about​ ​sustainability and​ ​global​ ​environmental​ ​challenges,​ ​René​ ​is​ ​an​ ​ambassador​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Jane​ ​Goodall​ ​Institute​ ​on the​ ​Roots​ ​&​ ​Shoots​ ​National​ ​Youth​ ​Leadership​ ​Council.​ ​René​ ​is​ ​President​ ​of​ ​the​ ​GHS​ ​Roots​ ​& Shoots​ ​Club​ ​and​ ​organizes​ ​numerous​ ​community-wide​ ​projects​ ​each​ ​year​ ​from​ ​food​ ​drives​ ​to creating​ ​cards​ ​for​ ​the​ ​elderly.​ ​René​ ​is​ ​a​ ​2016​ ​HerLead​ ​Fellow,​ ​chosen​ ​as​ ​one​ ​of​ ​fifty​ ​young women​ ​from​ ​over​ ​4,500​ ​applicants,​ ​and​ ​was​ ​awarded​ ​grants​ ​of​ ​$2,500​ ​and​ ​$2,000​ ​through​ ​this program.​ ​René​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​using​ ​these​ ​funds​ ​to​ ​build​ ​a​ ​community​ ​garden​ ​to​ ​alleviate​ ​food insecurity​ ​and​ ​increase​ ​access​ ​to​ ​fresh​ ​produce​ ​for​ ​members​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Greenwich​ ​community. René,​ ​and​ ​a​ ​team​ ​of​ ​peers​ ​she​ ​led,​ ​was​ ​also​ ​awarded​ ​a​ ​$3,000​ ​grant​ ​coming​ ​in​ ​first​ ​place​ ​in​ ​the Pitch​ ​Your​ ​Peers​ ​Investment​ ​Pitch​ ​Competition.​ ​René​ ​is​ ​a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Abilis​ ​Youth​ ​Board, has​ ​received​ ​the​ ​Town​ ​of​ ​Greenwich​ ​Community​ ​Service​ ​Award​ ​twice​ ​and​ ​The​ ​President​ ​of​ ​The United​ ​States’​ ​Community​ ​Service​ ​Award.
