Greenwich Time, 8.August.2017: Mary Lee Kiernan, president and CEO of YWCA Greenwich, said the agency was grateful for the proposed $10,000 allocation for the agency’s domestic violence crisis intervention and emergency shelter services. The YWCA is the only certified provider in town of 24/7 services from licensed providers for victims of abuse.
“This community has a chronic violent crime issue,” Kiernan said. “Year after year the number one violent crime here is domestic violence and it’s the second most investigated crime here. Domestic violence, as we say, lives on every street and in every neighborhood in this town.”
Kiernan said the $10,000 will cover the YWCA’s hotlines for victims and police, the emergency, confidential off-site shelter, crisis intervention counseling and funding a family violence advocate at Stamford Superior Court.
