Celebrating the women of Greenwich

Greenwich Time 8.March.2019 On this International Woman’s Day, I am thinking about the strong, smart and engaged women who have shaped YWCA Greenwich and our community.

This year, YWCA Greenwich will celebrate its centennial. On June 27, 1919, at the height of the suffrage movement and a year before women had the right to vote, eight women met at the home of Mrs. Edgar C. Lockwood to discuss opening a place where women could come together and address the most pressing needs of the community and contemporary social issues.
