Katherine B. Vadasdi

Katherine Vadasdi, MD is an orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in adolescent and adult sports medicine as well as shoulder, elbow surgery. She has been practicing at Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) in Greenwich and Stamford since 2009.  She is director of the ONS Women’s Sports Medicine Center.

Dr. Vadasdi graduated Dartmouth College and earned her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She performed a residency in orthopedics at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York and completed fellowship training in shoulder, elbow and sports medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, Department of Orthopedics. While at Columbia, Dr. Vadasdi was assistant team physician to Columbia University Athletics.  Dr. Vadasdi has been honored as a Castle Connolly America's Top Doctor and Fairfield County Top Doctor annually since 2014.  In 2017, she was the recipient of the Fairfield County Female Trailblazer Doctor of Distinction Award.
 
As member of the Board of Directors at the ONS Foundation for Clinical Research and Education, Dr. Vadasdi is active in ongoing research, including the development of a groundbreaking protocol to help curb opioid addiction among teens and athletes. She has been published in numerous prestigious industry journals such as the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. Additionally, Dr. Vadasdi serves as a mentor through the Foundation’s Research and Summer Internship Programs and during the Mini-Med School program which provides 15 high school students the opportunity to participate in a one week workshop in orthopedics.
 
Dr. Vadasdi is the designated team doctor for Greenwich High School, Iona Preparatory School, Trinity Catholic High School and Convent of the Sacred Heart, and is a frequent guest speaker for local organizations, parent groups and at medical conferences. She participates on a number of committees and boards, including the Greenwich Hospital Women’s Health Initiative Board of Directors and the Hospital’s Peer Review Board.
 
Dr. Vadasdi’s area of medical specialty reflects her personal love of physical activity.  She is an accomplished triathlete, having completed Ironman competitions in 2007 and 2009. Dr. Vadasdi is also an alpine climber and has ascended Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Rainier and the Grand Teton, among others. 
 
Dr. Vadasdi and her husband, Greg, moved to Old Greenwich in 2008. She has shared her love of sports and the outdoors with son, Jack, 8, and daughter, Sophie, 6. Hiking, camping, skiing, tennis and sailing are all favorite family activities.
